For my last trip to Tasmania earlier this year (and my third time to the Isle), the weather was not going to stop me from getting to Cradle Mountain. It is true, the weather did not stop me from going, but it stopped me from climbing and actually even seeing very far ahead. Like a lot of other Tasmanian myths, such as the Tassie Tiger, apples, and the sun on the west coast, I am going to have to add Cradle Mountain to this growing list.
With two good friends, after convincing them that a 5.30am start would be a great idea to try and find this mythical mountain, we only succeeded in getting up early!! A wander in the mist was very pleasant, however it did not debunk the myth.
My version above of my two friends searching very hard for the mythical Cradle Mountain. As a scientist, I do not believe Cradle Mountain exists until I see it, so here is to another Tassie adventure…
Erin.
