It is the first day of May. It is a public holiday here in Ethiopia, though I actually can’t tell you which one. I didn’t even know about it until yesterday. So I wish those celebrating it, a great day. It is the first day that I am committing to a month long daily photography project.
I came across the photoaday project here. I have been looking for something like this, and while 365 projects are great, I don’t want to commit to something like that. It will require me – or I will require myself – to think outside the box, and creatively each day.
I will only post my entry for today here, and will post the rest on the last day. I decided that uploading a photo every day here would be too much for you let alone me.
The story behind todays image… I have been sitting here all morning working on other things, but in the back of my mind I have been trying to think about peace. What does it mean to me? How do I interpret it? Where do I feel peace? When am I at peace?
Then… as always happens, when not thinking about it, I walked out the back to the garden (and can’t even remember why anymore) and felt at peace. I always come out to the garden when I need peace. I have taken to eating my breakfast out here. A good book. A cold drink. The warm morning sun on my back. The bees busily visiting the flowers around me. Birds singing their morning songs. Green leaves swaying in the gentle morning breeze.
So, here is to May. A month of thinking creatively and being creative… every single day.
