What is it about the draw of oceans and fishing villages? Maine (USA) has no shortage of coastline overlooking the very cold but beautiful Atlantic Ocean. Stretched out along this coastline are fishing villages, with their main income derived from lobster fishing.
Lobster season brings even more people to Maine, but not all to fish, most come to eat. Rockland Lobster Festival was in full swing during my visit, and in true carnival style, it did not disappoint for photo opportunities. Lobster, obviously, was the main drawcard.
Still my favourite small town in Maine, is Camden. This is also where I discovered the delicious native blueberry, met some amazing people and swam (or dipped) in the icy Atlantic waters from a kayak.
