I love water. I love the ocean. I love living near the ocean. Venice however is another extreme altogether. Venice is about living with and on the water.
Venice needs little introduction. Until our recent visit, we did not realise how much Venice is about water. We experienced it from all directions. Venetians have learned to live with it and they know how to make gumboots look sexy! While the rest of us, well…
Let’s just say that you really need to love boats and water to truly love Venice. Lucky for us we do.
Erin.
Great post!
Thank you very much.
Looks awesome!
Thanks Wendy. Have you been to Venice? If not, I think you’d love it.
Just got back from Venice – such a beautiful and unique place.
Venice really is a unique place, isn’t it? People were telling me you could ‘do’ Venice in 2 days, I disagree, I think you could spend days, weeks and months and still not really ‘do’ Venice.
Good job and a nice article… congrats for the first photo of the post.
Thank you. I spent many hours on the Grand Canal with the gondolas, so that first image is just one of many!!
yes … i know what it is spend hours and hours just for one photo, that’s the magic
It is. Sometimes I wish I spent more time photographing… there is nothing worse than being dragged away from a great photographic subject!!
Venice is beautiful. thank you for bringing the place to us, as well. or, for taking us with you. i had fun just looking at them… hello… 🙂
I am delighted that you enjoyed Venice. Thank you for the lovely comment.

Reblogged this on Stories from a culture.
Erin, I love the composition of the blue boat with reflected buildings. Stunning – I had to go back and look at it several times. 🙂
Thank you Pat. It was so much fun trying to find nice reflections in Venice. There is so much water I think reflections have to feature!!
Our post recent trip to Venice was in March and it rained ridiculously every other day we were there. They handle it well. Love your pics!
Thanks Amy. It appears that it must rain quite a bit all year then? At least in the months starting with M!
Oh, wow! That is a lot of water. It does look fun and romantic riding the boat. I just don’t know about walking on street water barefoot…love the pics!
Thank you Island Traveler. For us it was too cold to take our shoes off, so they just got a little wet (we avoided the deep water)!
