Happy New Year!
If you are in Ethiopia, Melkam Genet (Merry Christmas). As I celebrate the start of a new year, many in Ethiopia are celebrating Christmas. I think celebrations are an important part of life. Whether ritual or spontaneous, they help us to mark time and milestones.
I am celebrating more than just a new year. I am celebrating new beginnings. Leaving Ethiopia last year was difficult after five years. It meant leaving behind new friends, new habits and a different life. With that brought new opportunities. Living in Australia now I miss so much about Ethiopia, but I can also appreciate so much of my new home.
I am celebrating a new blog. It will be about life in Australia (for now anyway), my travels, my photography and work. I have great plans and dreams still. You are more than welcome to join me on my journey.
I miss you Ethiopia, but I will always carry you in my heart.
To new beginnings.
