Making paper in South Korea is a centuries old tradition still in use today. Hanji is the name given to handmade paper made from the Mulberry Tree in South Korea. I travelled to the Andong Hanji Paper Factory in Pungsan to see how they make this incredibly tough but beautiful paper.
If you are considering going, take the number 11 bus from Andong Station to Pungsan (it will drop you near a petrol station), then walk down the main road heading towards Daejon and you will find it about 10 minutes later in a very industrial area behind a large tourist restaurant. Taxis can also take you, but this is not a very cheap option unless there is a few of you.
