Photography is a very difficult medium to feel comfortable pursuing eagerly in Ethiopia. Not only are the people (mostly in the city) suspicious of you but they will often deny your polite query for a photograph. I still take the camera out, but I felt that my creative side was not getting enough TLC, so in to the world of watercolours I dove – yes head first and with great gusto.
Here are some of my first attempts at this seemingly easy but quite tricky art in reality!
The inspiration for these came from a walk to the shop the other day passing a line full of socks against a bright green brick wall.
I also wanted to have a go at painting something with some depth and so chose a photo that I took on Kangaroo Island of an old rusted out ute.
So, I am really enjoying the challenge of water colour and ink. I look forward to sharing some more with you once I have had some more practice!

That is really cool. I like out to dry the sheep.
Loved the paintings Erin, excellent. Definately scope for a series of greeting cards perhaps?
